Building properly sustainable neighbourhoods
We need to build neighborhoods not just houses or apartments or we will be building the ghettos of the future.
Building neighbourhoods involves rigorously linking grants of planning permission to provision of adequate schools, roads, shops, transport and other factors of sustainability.
As your Senator I will actively assess planning applications involving developments that do not provide adequately for sustainable neighbourhoods. I will also respond in writing to queries you might have about planning applications you do not believe include adequate provision of schools, shops, hospitals, etc. I will pay very close attention to any legislation or committee work that pertains to the building of properly sustainable neighbourhoods. And where relevant and necessary I shall propose relevant legislative amendments.
